Features

What it can do - or not

Here is a short list of the features of the game.

  • Incredible graphics
  • Awesome sound
  • 100 Levels
  • 7 different enemies
  • Slowly rising difficulty level
  • Starting level freely selectable
  • Controlled by keyboard, mouse or gamepad
  • Built in leveleditor
  • Uses OpenGL and Allegro
Planned features

Typhoon has advanced pretty well so far, but there is still room for improvement. Here is a list of things that i plan to add sooner or later, in no particular order:

  • Leveldesign changes
  • Nicer transition effects
  • Improvements to the bonus round
  • Co-op multiplayer -> two human-controlled claws but no droid or something like that
Differences to T2K

I am trying to make Typhoon a faithful remake of T2K - but i also changed a few things that i felt needed changing. Some things have been added as well. Here is a list of the more obvious things:

  • There are two new gamemodes and a CLASSIC mode that tries to be like T2K in most aspects
  • In all gamemodes except CLASSIC the powerups can be picked up while jumping
  • You need six warp tokens to enter a bonus round instead of three
  • Some enemies behave and look different
Known problems

Since Typhoon uses hardware accelerated OpenGL you might run into some problems. I have tried to use only the most common functions, but some more advanced features might not be available on all systems.

  • The web detail settings "GLOW" and "BLUR" do not seem to work on ATI cards (at least it does not work on my ancient 9600 XT with Catalyst 06.2) if antialiasing is on and the game is running fullscreen. It works in windowed mode though. Don't ask me, ask ATI...
  • There seems to be another ATI related problem: some notebooks come with ATI IGP chips - on these Typhoon just shows a black screen, but still runs properly. I have no idea what is wrong...
  • And YET another ATI problem, apparently: on Notebooks that use the Mobility Radeon 7500 chipset the stars and pixel effects are not drawn properly, they appear black.
